BOOK CLUB NEWS
We have embraced an exciting opportunity to engage in some wonderful reading and discussion with the book, Divine Interruptions - Maternal Theologies and Experiences.
Dr Cristina Lledo Gomez (from Broken Bay Institute - The Australian Institute of Theological Education), is funded by the Presentation Sisters to present this book to Spirit Weaver groups around the Wagga Diocese.
The book is essentially a collection of essays written about the experiences of mothering, while exploring how our experiences can inform theological insights. It is relevant for those who have been mothered, been a mother figure to others, as well as being a mother.
Cristina offers a series of Zoom experiences on a monthly basis to discuss a chapter of the book and allow for questions. A few days before each Zoom meet, participants meet to have a cuppa and a chat about the chapter and formulate any questions they might have for Cristina.
The discussions have been deep and fruitful.

SYNODALITY

Spirit Weavers, Wagga have been busy during January and February formulating their response for submission to the Pope’s Synod on Synodality.
After an invitation to the women of the Diocese, 16 women met via Zoom on 20 January to discuss and prepare a draft submission. Participants were divided into three groups aligned to the three themes of Communion, Mission, and Participation.
Each group prepared an initial response. The three drafts were then refined . The Spirit Weavers team met to review and agree on the final documents which were circulated to all those who attended the 20 January meeting. The three submissions, for Communion, Participation and Mission, were sent to the official site https://www.catholic.org.au/synodalchurch . Copies of the submissions were forwarded to the Vatican, Bishop Mark and the Diocesan Coordinator.
